International Artist in Residence Program
In cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research
This studio is provided free of charge for a period of one to three months for selected artists. A jury selects candidates each year. In 2019 the jury was Bassam El-Baroni, Aziza Harmel and Seamus Kealy. In 2020, the jury was Aziza Harmel, Flaka Haliti and Seamus Kealy. The studio is also used once a year for the SpallArt Salzburg Prize as well as for artists exhibiting at the Salzburger Kunstverein.
Artists to date include Keith Boadwee, Pamela Breda, Matthew D’Arcy, Pierre Descamps (SpallArt Salzburg Prize), Bruce Emmett, Omer Fast, Carsten Fock, Zohar Gotesman, Assem Hendawi, Erika Hock, Carl Johan Högberg, Aarthiee Kushwaha, Anastasiya (Nastya) Kuzmina, Stépanie Lagarde, Maria Legat, Marit Mihklepp, Bady Minck, Harun Morrison, Gareth Moore, Khairullah Rahim, Christiane Peschek, Nelmarie du Preez, Nicola Röthemeyer & Annika Sailer, Megan Rooney, Hoda Rostami, Vanina Saracino, Libby Scarlett, Ashley Hans Scheirl, Luise Schröder (SpallArt Salzburg Prize), Hayley Silverman, Dan-Armand Stancu, Amalia Ulman, Gernot Wieland, Markus Wilfling, Anna Witt, and Etienne Zack.
City of Salzburg
The city of Salzburg provides this atelier free of charge for a period of one to three months. In return the artist supplies one piece of work created in Salzburg for free to the city. Travel, accommodation and material costs are not covered by the city of Salzburg.

State of Salzburg
The state of Salzburg provides this studio on an exchange basis with specific partners for four to six weeks. Applications by individuals are not possible. The artist invited can use the studio for free (financial support is provided by the country sending the artist); Salzburg artists, who in exchange spend time in the partner city, are awarded a grant for travel and accommodation expenses.
