The Salzburger Kunstverein presents October Talks, a series of talks on art and culture by international curators, directors, philosophers and other specialists.

For our first season of talks, Séamus Kealy has invited a variety of exciting speakers whose roles and contexts differ greatly from one to the next. For the first talk, Daria de Beauvais (Curator, Palais de Tokyo, Paris) will interview the Salzburg-born artist Ashley Hans Scheirl on the occasion of her exhibition opening at the Salzburger Kunstverein. The second talk sees Josée Drouin-Brisebois, Chief Curator of Contemporary Art at the National Gallery of Canada, presenting the European launch of Canada’s prestigious Sobey Art Award. For the third talk, the infamous, influential and controversial thinker Terry Eagleton returns to the Salzburger Kunstverein to present the German version of his book Materialism. The very next evening, Nicolaus Schafhausen, the provocateur Curator and Director of Kunsthalle Wien, who has recently and very publicly resigned, will speak on his practise and praxis. And finally, the fifth lecture will be by Swiss Curator Mirjam Varadinis (Kunsthaus Zürich), who was on the 2018 Manifesta curatorial team.
