Trichtlinnburg Salzburg - Julius Deutschbauer / Gerhards Spring
Een Affeire Met De Stad / Linnajuhtum / Ein städtisches Abenteuer / An Urban Affair

Salzburg:
Saturday, 21st May 2005, 11 a.m.
Bergstrasse 11A

The artists Julius Deutschbauer (A) and Gerhard Spring (A) are opening the new bauMax- chain store in vacant business premises in Salzburg’s city centre as a temporary reaction to the structures of real estate in the centre of Salzburg.
2000 posters are to be printed as part of the action and they will be distributed free of charge at the opening of the bauMax chain store. On the poster, the two artists are sitting at a table, which is decorated with two bauMax flags and the tablecloth is also a bauMax flag containing their logo. The address and telephone number of the new chain store, as well as the date of the project are also included. ”kunstMax“ Karlheinz Essl is standing between them with his hands on their shoulders and behind them the silhouette of Salzburg’s old city centre is outlined under a clear sky. There are two main reasons for the bauMax concern being chosen for this project: firstly, it is a store which, is not normally found in Salzburg’s city centre and it therefore, aroused the interest of both artists. Secondly, by using the personality, Karlheinz Essl, they have someone who is at the top of the concern and who has made a name for himself as an art collector in the public eye, especially in Salzburg’s art scene.
