Anja Ronacher. The Open

Anja Ronacher’s analogue photographs appear almost anachronistic in these times where we are today flooded with digital images; simultaneously, they offer a moment of deceleration. For her works, she photograps artefacts in museums. This process is the artist’s attempt to take them out of their museum context and return them―to ritual, to art, to non-knowledge, to a deeper, older knowledge; to an inner experience grounded neither in existence nor rationality.

Anja Ronacher, born 1979 in Salzburg, lives and works in Vienna
