Thomas Hörl
Matthias

Opening: Fr, 12 December 2014, 8 p.m.

Parallel to the annual exhibition 2014, the 2013 fellowship award winner is showing his work.

Thomas Hörl coins the term “Tresterersie” in his examination of the Pinzgau Perchtentanz, a form of traditional dance. In a make-believe dance with long-dead Matthias Eder, Hörl brings the contemporary together with the past, culminating in an impulsive burst of colors and an almost homoerotic adoration.

Thomas Hörl, born 1975 in Hallein, lives and works in Vienna

Special thanks to das_em, Holunder Heiß, Herbert Justnik, Ulrike Kammerhofer-Aggermann, Jakob Lena Knebl, Peter Kozek, Andreas Riegler, Martin Siewert, Erna Ströbitzer / Österreichisches Volksliedwerk, Cherry Sunkist, das Wiener Phonogrammarchiv, and Elisabeth Wildling.
