Exhibition at CaféCult #39

Peter Brauneis
Drei Men with Crowns

Opening: April 22, 2009, 7 p.m.

Peter Brauneis showed his work “Drei Men with Crowns” as part of the exhibition series in CaféCult #39.

“Drei Men with Crowns” are up to their necks in what could be liquid, but only could be, because liquids usually spread horizontally and flow vertically. Here there is a smooth vertical surface through which the “Drei Men with Crowns” move. They wear crowns and carry pacifiers – pacifiers are comforting, crowns are uncomfortable – and move towards each other on checkered tablecloths. Peter Brauneis

Peter Brauneis plays with everyday perceptions and realities. He turns conventional and practiced views and mindsets inside out and uses humor to challenge the order of our world.

Peter Brauneis, born in Hallein in 1964, lives and works in Salzburg. Peter Brauneis has been working as a freelance artist since 1995, in 1999 he started the artist group Bildkombinat Bellevue with Joe Wagner and Peter Schwaighofer. Most recently Peter Brauneis participated in the exhibitions “In Between” at the Genia Schreiber University Gallery, Tel Aviv, “Findet mich das Glück” at the Galeria Schloss Goldegg, and “Liebe, mit dem Lift nach Karl May” at the Kunsthalle NEXUS, Saalfelden.
