Book & Hedén
Stories for Empty Shop Windows

Opening: September 19th, 2007, 7 pm

Artist Talk: with Carina Book
and Ingrid Hedén, September 20, 2007, 7 p.m.

Ingrid Book and Carina Hedén work on the interface between architecture, landscape and social balance. In their projects they support and make the powers of self organisation and the productive re-evaluation of regional resources to be a point of discussion. The artists live in Oslo and have been working together since 1987. A clear commitment to the work in dialogue determines their access to artistic projects. Curiosity, patience and empathy associates their interest in ecology and alternative life forms whereby there is a special focus in their research on the region as a mirror of global relationships. There are diverse artistic forms of expressions using photography, video or installations and these are prepared according to each respective project definition.

Within the exhibition at the Salzburger Kunstverein Book & Hedén presented the results of the project ”Subject Scheibbs. Life in an Austrian Town“, realised on behalf of ”Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Niederösterreich“ in 2006. Therefore they collected stories of inhabitants, living in the town Scheibbs, and documented the locations related to those stories as text and photographs. A catalogue of the exhibition has been published in collaboration with the Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo.

During the Long Night of the Salzburg Museums at October 6th, 2007 the Salzburger Kunstverein showed videoworks of the Norwegian artists.
