Discussion with the Press: Wednesday 16, 11 a.m.
Opening: Wednesday 16, 7 p.m.,
Performance: Cezary Bodzianowski Discussion with the Artists: Thursday 17, 6 p.m.

The exhibition looks into the way in which artists in Europe at the turn of the century research history, how they depict and interpret history and thus contribute to building up an idea of the present. The exhibits deal with various topics and related themes: the holocaust and its consequences — emigration, right-wing radicalism and racism (Ines Doujak, Sanja Ivekovic, Klub Zwei, Aura Rosenberg, Arturas Raila, Hito Steyerl), how work has changed in countries formerly under real socialist rule and the transition towards a new social order (Karen Andreassian, Gintaras Makarevicius). The artists research historical developments in Europe using examples based on the history of their own family (Sanja Ivekovic, Anri Sala, Milica Tomic), resistance and adjustment to various political systems or the definition of identities by means of historical constructions (Harun Farocki, Pia Lanzinger, Dierk Schmidt, Gitte Villesen). Artists: Karen Andreassian, Cezary Bodzianowski, Phil Collins, Alice Creischer, Ines Doujak, Harun Farocki, Sanja Ivekovic, j.u.p. (Ulrike Müller and Patricia Reschenbach), Klub Zwei – Simone Bader and Jo Schmeiser, Pia Lanzinger, Gintaras Makarevicius, Arturas Raila, Aura Rosenberg, Anri Sala, Dierk Schmidt, Hito Steyerl, Milica Tomic, Gitte Villesen Architecture: one room – Georg Huber, Karl Meinhart Curators: Hildegund Amanshauser, Hedwig Saxenhuber
