Ricardo Brey (born 1955 in Cuba, lives in Ghent) developed for the Salzburg Kunstverein a three-part work, beginning outside the building, where forty umbrellas were hung on a still leafless tree.
After a stormy night in which many of the umbrellas were blown of the tree, the police ordered the removal of the rest. In the peripheral gallery, Ricardo Brey presented assemblages on the theme of music, with perforated paper from an old pianola roll. The large installation was dominated by an installation of blankets, ventilators, gloves, jacks, and a genuine elephant foot, which completely filled the main room, with the addition of two wall-sculptures.
