Call for proposals: Project to support young artists

Initiated by the Thaddaeus Ropac Gallery in Salzburg in partnership with the Salzburger Kunstverein

Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac Salzburg is launching an initiative for young artists who are in need of support due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. A grant of five thousand euros will be awarded to at least twenty young visual artists, who have a connection to the Salzburg region. The Salzburger Kunstverein, as a partner of the project, will administer the award and the selection committee.

With the Salzburger Kunstverein, under the leadership of director Séamus Kealy, the Thaddaeus Ropac Gallery has gained a recognized and impartial partnership whereby this institution will act as contact for all applications and will be responsible for the selection of the artists. The Salzburger Kunstverein serves as a forum for contemporary art by international and Austrian artists and looks back on many years of activity as such an institution.

Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac Salzburg will have no influence on the selection of artists.

We kindly ask young visual artists, who are in financial difficulties due to Covid-19, to send their applications to the Salzburger Kunstverein with the following information:

- a letter of motivation with a description of current art projects, if applicable
- a max. 5-page portfolio
- 2-page CV incl. website if applicable
- the attached declaration of need

Please send these exclusively in digital format and as a single Word or PDF document.

- Catalogues and brochures or further information are welcome.
(these can be sent by post or handed in personally at the Salzburger Kunstverein)

Digital images or an online link to the work in an email (larger files via dropbox, wet transfer or compressed). Late applications will not be reviewed.

In case of a postal delivery, returns are unfortunately not possible, but can be picked up personally.

The deadline for submission is August 1, 2020.

Incomplete submissions will not be submitted to the jury. The decisions of the jury are final.
