Annual Program 2018

Exhibition overview

In 2018, our program reflects upon a number of themes. Firstly, the nature of exhibitions and the presentation of ideas through art themselves are self-consciously in question. Artists’ work will reflect upon notions such as visual languages, codes and communication, spoken and fragmented narratives, and questions of gender and sexuality. Meanwhile modes of artistic production are also put to the test, whether thoughtful minutiae in artwork or greater speculations in the format of exhibitions themselves.

Traveling from the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin, we open our annual program with a presentation of newly commissioned works by Lucy Skaer.

In the spring, Serbian-born, Netherlands-based Katarina Zdjelar will unveil a survey exhibition of her work.

The summer exhibition Propositions: 20 Exhibitions is exactly that, a series of propositions in the form of twenty exhibitions, complemented by our summer screening programme, Sunset Kino.

In the autumn, the Salzburg-born artist Ashley Hans Scheirl, makes a sort of homecoming exhibition, her first solo presentation in Salzburg.

Austrian artists, especially from Salzburg, occupy the Kabinett this year, including Erich Gruber, the Viennese collective Black Pages, Gunda Gruber, and Alexandra Baumgartner. Finally, Nikola Röthemeyer & Annika Sailer will produce a year-long exhibition in the Ringgalerie.
