Kate Strain is the new artistic director of the Grazer Kunstverein, effective September 1, 2016. The Grazer Kunstverein is a leading art institution, presenting international, visual art in the form of exhibitions, lectures and publications.
Over the past ten years, Kate Strain has developed a vibrant curatorial practice. She has worked across a range of organisations, from the multi-disciplinary Project Arts Centre, Dublin, to the rural art space Cow House Studios, Wexford, Ireland. In 2016, Strain co-founded the first Department of Ultimology, at Trinity College Dublin. She was a participant of the Young Curators Residency Programme at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin, Italy (2015), and completed the de Appel Curatorial Programme, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2013/14).
Kate Strain will speak about her projects and the future vision of the Grazer Kunstverein. She will be available for a dialogue with the public and members of the Kunstverein.
Kate Strain will be introduced by Alan O’Brien of the Irish Embassy to Austria and Séamus Kealy, Director, Salzburger Kunstverein.
Entry is free, everyone welcome. Reception with refreshments follows.
