Often a collection is created out of passion for a specific cause or for study purposes—also artists tend to do that (for various reasons). Often, however, the enthusiasm can diminish over time, and together with limited storage capacity, a need for action arises.

A collection of objects in the category of bits and pieces, created by the artist about a decade ago, has now been brought out for the last time and examined for its sculptural possibilities. The sign “Please return objects to their proper place,” in turn, comes from a museum collection. “The correct place” was ultimately interpreted as the place of origin (scrap shop) to which the collection was returned (in individual pieces, cleaned of paint) after the photographic recording.

Stefan Klampfer (*1979 in Kitzbühel) lives and works in Vienna. From 2006-2010 he studied object sculpture with Manfred Pernice and from 2010-2012 textual sculpture with Heimo Zobernig at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. In 2013 he received his diploma. www.stefanklampfer.com
