Events 2009

10.12.2009–24.01.2010
Exhibition at CaféCult #42

Margit Ann Berger

Opening: December 9, 2009, 7 p.m.

Margit Ann Berger was showing her two pieces, “Schaun 4” (2008) and “Schaun 6” (2009), in the exhibition series in Café Cult #42.

Margit Berger works with original photos from her own environment, pictures of people with whom she shares experiences and stories. The images are rearranged during the painting process and new elements are added. Events and associations reclaim themselves from memory and force themselves into the pictures – experiences, original images, and wishful thinking mix, and a new picture emerges. A picture that correlates different encounters, relationships, and emotions, and thereby comes closest to the felt, intuitively sensed reality that cannot be pinpointed.

Margit Ann Berger, born in 1971 in Lienz, East Tyrol, lives and works in Salzburg. Margit Ann Berger studied stage design and costume design, as well as film and exhibition design, at Mozarteum University in Salzburg. She has been working as the Deputy Director of Design at the Salzburg Festival since 2002. In 2008 Ms. Berger and Eva Musil won the competition “Initiative Architektur Salzburg neu” for the redesign of “Space for Architecture” in the Salzburg Künstlerhaus. In 2009 she and Eva Musil designed the exhibition for “Performing the East” at the Salzburger Kunstverein.
