Oliver Ressler
100 years of greenhouse effect

1995 Province of Salzburg Award

In 1896, the Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius published his essay "On the Influence of Carbonic Acid in the Air upon the Temperature of the Ground", in which he informed the scientific community that according to his calculations, the carbon dioxide produced by man (through combustion processes) would in the long term raise the average global temperature. Arrhenius essay represents the starting-point of a discontinuous debate on the so-called greenhouse effect.

Oliver Ressler (born 1970, lives in Vienna) took Arrhenius as his starting-point for a report on the natural and anthropogenic greenhouse effect and its political consequences.
